Zinc oxide is an inorganic and largely inert compound that is insoluble in water. It is used very widely as a bulking agent or filler, and as a white pigment. It is found in some rubber, glass, ceramic products, paints and finds use in the chemical industry as a catalyst. It is added in a lot of different products, such as fertilizers, animal feed, vitamin supplements, many cosmetic and medical products. This product has strong absorption of ultra-violet light which has led to its use in sunscreen lotions. It blocks both UVA and UVB radiation, protecting against sunburn, skin damage and cancer. In this specific case it is necessary to take into account the fact that it is already out of date, which can have an influence on the product's characteristics and consequently on its final application. Another issue is that it is cobbled together.
